Filed under: Public school, Moms, Adventures in Parenting, In the NewsThere are a lot of things I'm willing to do to help raise money for my kids' schools. Run a concession stand? No problem! Sell T-shirts? Done and done! Bake sale? I'll even use organic flour! Pose semi-nude for a calendar? Ummm, I'd have to think about that one.
Seven Spanish mothers DID pose for a cheeky not-really-naked nude calendar hoping to replicate the success of the British woman in the movie "Calendar Girls" was base on and make money for their children's rural school. Only one tiny little problem, because of a snafu with the publisher, the calendar wasn't ready in December when Christmas and calendars shoppers would have purchased them. The well-intentioned ladies are now stuck with five thousand of the calendars AND they owe the printer $16,000.
The elementary school the women were trying to raise money for has one classroom and teacher to handle seven pupils, who span four grades, and range in age from 7 to 11. The building is very small and mothers wanted the calendar money to pay for a recreation center for the kids.
"The sad part for us is figuring out what to do with them because it is not something you can recycle," said Rosa Garin, 36, one of the models.
This looks like a job for E-bay or Craigslist!Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
